The one on the end, in pink

I couldn't help borrowing this picture from Mac and Ames's blog.
Zack is far left.

Ames is actually the star of this picture, taken at her 5th birthday party. She's the one in the pink socks, third from the left. Flanking her are twins Resa and Camelia ( the one making goo goo eyes at Zack). They have birthdays just one day before Zack in March.

I don't know the other girls, but Ames's little brother Mac is the guy in the yellow shirt. All of the girls are about 5. Mac is 2.

Zack is in love with his preschool. He's bone tired by the end of the day, but not cranky. Perfect. This morning he announced that the peaches on his breakfast plate had little teeny mouths that we can't see, and the peaches are saying "wee wee wee!"

Ahhh... grasshopper!

This little grasshopper followed Zack everywhere one afternoon, or so it seemed. We kept trying to put it down and kept finding it back on his clothes. Maybe there were just a lot of grashoppers that day, but I'd like to think that even little green bugs find Zack irresistible.

Yesterday Zack informed me I had a germ on my knee. When I asked how he could see something so small as a germ he replied, "Because Superman visited me last night in my dreams and gave me a pair of X-Ray binoculars in my eyes."

This week Zack made the giant leap into a full-day PreK housed inside the neighborhood elementary school. He rubs elbows with BIG kids now -- kids who ride without training wheels. Kids who can read. Kids who swing hand-over-hand across the jungle gym with wild abandon.

One would think this kind of transition would make most kids nervous -- even a little intimidated. Zack never even broke stride. He has many of his longtime friends in school with him, which helps. But he is already making new friends, and talking about the great things he is learning at school. (Like "Finger Language" aka Sign Language)

Zack's new school is, for him, exactly what the doctor ordered. He's only been there for three days but he already seems more focused, confident, patient, generous and just more grown up than he did even last week! I have high hopes.
