Oh, those pesky Macs!

Leave the screen door open and they just fly right in. The condo was full of 'em, morning noon and night!

The blue-screen light of the laptop proved a major attraction at the Kamaole Sands. This photo, courtesy of Cousin Dave (green shirt, far right), was the typical view from inside our Maui condo, even though we could look OUT the window and see the ocean. The Littles are Mac Geeks Extraordinaire. We had a whole bushel of laptops (at least two of which are NOT pictured here). So many, in fact, that the techno-heads found the condo's puny ethernet connection woefully inadequate. Bill Thompson (seated next to Dave) ran out to Costco and bought a wireless Airport Express connector. Little did he know (hah! "Little" did he know! Get it?) that Dave would show up mere hours later from San Francisco packing his very own Airport Express. Dave is the Little's leader in the "Cult of Mac." He even works there.

Dave is Jim's cousin on his dad's side. Bill is Jim Sr.'s longtime buddy and a spectacular professional photographer. Next to Bill is Jim Sr., and in the far left corner is Jim's cousin Emily, an NYU neurosurgeon and her boyfriend, financial guy Ed.

More to come on the Maui adventure!

Life's a beach

Maui has been good to Zack. Every day is a party. He's going to bed at 10pm and waking up at 8am Maui time. (the equivalent of sleeping from 1am - 11am in Portland). He's subsisting on a diet of sea water and cocktail cherries. He's brown as a berry.

A typical day involves multiple trips to the pool and beach, a little practice surfing on the front lawn, with food and rest when his mom says he absolutely must. The other night we took a sunset cruise and he got to lean over the edge of the boat to watch two wild dolphins swim in its wake.

We come home on the redeye on Monday. Reenttry is going to be brutal.

Time Square, NYC

Our intrepid four-year-old traveler just returned from a week-long trip to NJ and the "Big Apple." Here he is taking in the sights with Dad, Grandma Jean and Pop-Pop.

Our visit to New York was a huge success. We're not sure whether Zack's favorite things were the bugs in his grandparents' backyard, or the fantastic seats and backstage tour at "Beauty and the Beast" on Broadway.

We've barely been home a week, and are off to Maui on Sunday. Zack doesn't know what time zone he's in, but he's having fun!
