Zack is a joy right now. He's kind, generous, capable, creative and pleased as punch with himself most of the time!

Zack's Auntie Cat knit this beautiful sweater for him. It's a little loose around the shoulders, so Cat if you have any spare yarn from when you made it, send a little and I'll cinch up the edges of the neck a bit!

The many faces of grilled cheese...

The other day Zack took the classic first "messy from the middle" bite of each of two triangular halves of a grilled cheese sandwich. He then fit the two pieces back together and announced he had invented a Grilled Cheese Mask. When I asked him to demonstrate he held the pieces together so the two half-circle bites lined up to form one whole circle, and then put them over his face so he could look out the hole. Hmmm... I think the idea has potential!

On Tuesday afternoon Zack and I planted some sugar snap pea seeds in the back yard. The next morning he woke up early, got himself dressed and came into our room wanting to "check" on the seeds. Gardening is a patient man's hobby.

Zack and Sam took their families bowling today. What a hoot! The grownups had as much fun as the kids, and nobody even dropped a ball on anybody else's foot. This despite the constant straying of small boys onto random lanes other than their own.

Here, in one of many diversions, Zack is apparently showing Sam some of his Taekwondo moves.

Sometimes the pins moved faster than the ball. (Seen here at the end of a long, slow journey to the far left corner of the lane). The kids' lane had bumpers in the gutters -- in theory to prevent gutter balls. Zack managed to roll one anyway. We decided the precision that required is equivalent to rolling a strike on a lane with no bumpers.
