We're on the road again. This time it's Jackson Hole, where we're spending a week with Grandpa Jim and Grandma Lisa. As is par for the course in Jackson, it has been a week full of adventure, magic, and a few surprises.
On the day we arrived, our intrepid junior scientist surveyed the yard with magnifying glass in hand. This is Lisa's "guard gargoyle," who watches over the back yard. In the background you can see the Tetons.
So far Zack has been bungee jumping and rock climbing (well, sort of) and today we went fishing and he took a swim in the Kelly Warm Springs (aka the Kelly Polio Pool) -- a rather tepid natural pond just the right temperature to spawn all manner of exotic bacteria. Zack caught a little creature about the size of a golf ball that was in transformation from fish to frog. He carted it all over the pond until it was within an inch of death, and we finally convinced him to let it swim free.
On the way back we ran into a buffalo traffic jam. The herd was midway across the road, and some of the babies had decided to lie down on the nice warm blacktop and take a snooze. We had a wonderful close-up look. Then we stopped by at the National Wildlife Art Museum to see a visiting exhibit of Andy Warhol pieces made in the early 80s on endangered species.
Tomorrow we're headed into Yellowstone. More beautiful pictures to come, I'm sure.
