Life with the Littles, starring Zack.

Today's gems:

Zack, to Jim: "Dad, are you a guy?"
Jim: Yes Zack. Are YOU a guy?
Zack: Trevor's a guy.
(Trevor is Kate's boyfriend and Zack's idol.)

This morning I gave Zack an english muffin, open-faced, with peanut butter on it. He sat down to breakfast, took one look at the muffin halves and said, "Mom, I usually have tops on them."

Zack is starting to pout. He's mimicking behavior he's seen in older kids. He literally sticks out his lower lip and crosses his arms and turns his back on me and says "I WON'T!" It's all I can do not to crack up.

This morning he said:

"Mom, I'm going to grow up to be a big carrot."

and

"I want to go out to space."

Yesterday a bunch of crows woke us all up early. Here's the conversation that ensued when Zack wandered into our room:

Me: What's that noise, Zack?
Zack: It's a bunch of squawky, squawky birds.
Me: What are they saying?
Zack: (Goes to the window for a closer look...) "They're singing 'Wheels on the Bus!'

Wednesday quote of the day...
Mom: Do you want to go outside?
Zack: No, I want to sit in here and relax.

My favorite conversation of the day occurred after Zack and Jim arrived home from the park to find I had cleaned the house.

Zack: Mom, you clean in the TV room!
Me: Is that an order or a compliment?
Zack: It's a compliment.

I just brushed my teeth and discovered that Zack apparently "washed" my toothbrush with the bar of soap sitting on the bathroom sink. Yummy.

All day today Zack's affirmative response has been "Yeah, I know." Here's are examples:

Zack: What are you doing mom?
Me: I'm mopping the porch
Zack: Yeah, I know.

or

Mom: Do you want a grilled cheese sandwich for lunch?
Zack: Yeah, I know.

Zack has also been starting requests with "May I please..." and receiving things with a "Thank you Mom/Dad/whoever of his own volition today. What a champ.
