Little Kidds

Life with the Littles, starring Zack.

The other day Zack took me by the hand and said, "Mom, come with me. I have a problem. He led me to his room, where his "problem" was that he had taken the top off of the humidifier in his room and spilled the water all over his rug. He was very calm about it. I was less so.

Potty training is plodding (and plopping) along. Today Zack's teachers at school reported that as he flushed a poop down the potty he waved to it and said, "Have a nice trip!"

Random observations:
Tonight as Zack was in the tub he lined up his toy dinosaurs and said, "Mom! The dinosaurs are all aquiver!" (What are they doing at that school of his?!)

Then later as we were downstairs reading before bed, he said: "Mom, when I grow up, I'm going to live off the land!"

Zack has hit the "Why?" stage.
Here's a conversation from just a few minutes ago when Zack woke up to find his daddy already gone on a Sunday morning at 6:45...

ZACK: "Where's daddy?"
MOM: "He had to go to the hospital in the middle of the night to help a lady have a baby."
ZACK: "WHY?"
MOM: "Because the baby is ready to come out of her tummy."
ZACK: "WHY?"
MOM: "Because the baby is ready to grow more on the outside.
ZACK: "WHY is Daddy there?"
MOM: "Sometimes having a baby is hard work. The mommy needs a doctor to help the baby come out.
ZACK: "Yeah. Maybe Daddy will use a shovel."

He also manages to reason a lot of stuff on his own. We're in the midst of potty training and we always tell him how proud we are of him when he goes on the toilet. The other day we were changing his diaper during playgroup when Zack's friend Ian came into the bathroom. Zack said to him, "Ian, I pooped in my diaper and not in the potty, and my mom isn't so proud."

This week Zack is brought to us by the letter "T." It's his favorite. Of course, one of the main reasons is because "T" is for "Trevor." Trevor is Zack's idol. He's the fiance of Zack's former nanny, Kate. He's a tool guy, and we all know how much Zack likes tools. Zack also knows "D" for Daddy, "I" for Ian, "H" for Hugh (and Hammer, of course) and "A" for Alligator.

He also likes to go to "Barns and Ovals" a lot (aka Barnes & Noble)
